The promising young Basque rider, son of the legendary Joseba Beloki, makes the leap to professionalism with the EF Education - EasyPost team
After two years in the junior category and at only 18 years of age, he becomes another of the premature cyclists to make the step up to the elite of cycling, the World Tour peloton.
Markel has learned the trade since he was a child, in his own home. His father, Joseba Beloki, a reference in the history of Spanish cycling, has shared with him what it means to be a professional cyclist.

His last season as a junior in the Samuel Sánchez MMR-Academy, winning in several of the most important national races, has propelled him to the highest echelon of cycling. However, Markel is cautious and knows that it will be a new stage of work and learning.
"My goal right now is to improve. I know I'm too young for the World Tour, but this team will give me the opportunity to improve little by little".
We are very proud to see the effort of our young cyclists, their commitment and discipline. Values that are transmitted from the academy and that forge stars like Markel.
