Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), with 6 podium finishes so far in 2023, started another chapter of his close relationship with the Asturian brand MMR. After the Adrenaline SL and Rakish in 2021, came the time for the gravel with one of the most recent releases from MMR.
The X-Tour, with a proprietary geometry, led by Chechu Rubiera and designed for adventure and endurance cycling, is founded on intermediate modulus carbon fibres that guarantee fun on long rides thanks to their greater vertical elasticity.
Customised configuration
For this occasion, the set-up combined DT Swiss GRC 1400 Spline Carbon DB CL wheels, Hutchinson Touareg 700*40 Tubeless Ready Hardskin tyres, a Selle Italia SLR Boost Carbon saddle, an FSA K-Force MTC Carbon seatpost, a Vision SMR stem and Vision Metron 4D ACR handlebars.
The Sram single chainring configuration with Force 1 AXS DUB Wide PowerMeter 40T 170 mm crankset, X0 AXS T-Type rear derailleur, XS 1295 T-Type 10/52T 12V cassette, Force AXS brakes, CenterLine X 160 mm front and 140 mm rear brake discs.
Sram's latest race-proven wireless technology and precise power measurement will surely allow Fernando Alonso to show what he is capable of, and on gravel tracks as well.
Careful design with a 'British' touch
Javier González, MMR's Art Director, explains the project: "Inspiration taken from the bodywork of Aston Martins is the starting point, prominently featuring British Racing Green, the traditional colour of British racing cars.
To finish off this X-Tour, the engineering creation of Chechu Rubiera and his team at MMR, they "have also included black areas in contrasting matt and gloss finishes — to further accentuate the exclusive character of the decoration — and dynamic lime green accents in interior parts such as forks, chainstays and seat stays. These are details used on F1's medical car, the Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car, and on Fernando Alonso's own car".
